September 09, 2009

HAGERSTOWN -- A Hagerstown man was taken to Washington County Hospital after the motor scooter he was riding Wednesday morning was struck by an SUV at the intersection of Jonathan and Church streets, Hagerstown Police Lt. Fred Wolford said.

Clark Miller, 50, was listed in fair condition Wednesday evening, a hospital nursing supervisor said.

Miller was riding a 2009 Tomos scooter at about 8:35 a.m. when a Nissan SUV went through a blinking red light at the intersection and the two vehicles collided, Wolford said.

The driver of the SUV, Matthew Petro, 24, of Sharpsburg, was charged with a traffic violation, Wolford said.
