KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. -- A man who police say nearly ran over officers with an SUV as they attempted to arrest him on drug charges Wednesday night was arrested Thursday, the Charles Town Police Department said in a news release.

Terrell Thorne, aka Terrell Jones, 26, of 150 Georgetown Square in Martinsburg, W.Va., was taken into custody without incident Thursday by West Virginia State Police and federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the release said.

Thorne is charged with three counts of distribution of crack cocaine and was being held Thursday night on a $75,000 cash-only bond at Eastern Regional Jail, authorities said.

A second man in the SUV remained at large, police said.

Police about to make an arrest in a drug investigation Wednesday night fired shots at the SUV containing two suspects as it nearly ran over officers in the parking lot of a strip club, according to police.

No one was believed to be injured, said Jesse Jones, chief of staff of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

The shots were fired outside of Divas Club along Charles Town Road about 7:15 p.m.

The driver of a large SUV "plowed his way" through vehicles that had boxed in the vehicle in the parking lot to make the arrest, Jones said.

Police found the vehicle abandoned on Luther Jones Road and the suspects apparently had fled, Jones said.

The drug investigation involved officers from the Berkeley County and Jefferson County sheriff's departments, Charles Town and Ranson police departments and ATF, Jones said.

"We were doing some drug work, which led us to Divas' parking lot," said Jones, who emphasized the club had nothing to do with the investigation.
