Jessica Dice scored both of Clear Spring's goals as the visiting Blazers edged St. Maria Goretti 2-1 on Tuesday.

Alyssa Brandt had an assist for Clear Spring (2-1).

Lauree Lorreson scored the only goal for Goretti (0-3).

Smithsburg 2, FSK 1

UNION BRIDGE, Md. -- Ashley Ferguson scored twice to lead Smithsburg over host Francis Scott Key.

Allie Portoghese had an assist and Emily Hargreaves recorded eight saves for the Leopards (1-1).

Linganore 4, Boonsboro 1

NEW MARKET, Md. -- Kayla Walsh had a goal, Jaclyn Fiola had an assist and Becky Smith had 19 saves in the loss for Boonsboro (2-1).


St. James 3, Berkeley Springs 2

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Mary-Kate Afzali, Suzie McKelvey and Alyssa Glass each scored a goal as St. James picked up its first win of the season.

Courtney Peterson had an assist and Rachel Herrera had 18 saves for the Saints (1-0-1), who outshot the Indians 18-8.

Leigh Kidwell and Michelle Williams scored unassisted goals for the Indians (0-5-1).

Manchester Valley 4, South Hagerstown 0

MANCHESTER, Md. -- Juliann Tribett had 10 saves for South Hagerstown (0-2) in the loss.

North Star 4, McConnellsburg 3

BOSWELL, Pa. -- North Star scored two goals in the final five minutes to beat McConnellsburg.

Nicki McQuade had two goals and Casey Pollock had one for the Spartans (0-1), while Libby Strayer, Rachel Porterfield and Tiffany Bunch each had an assist and Sam McQuade had 13 saves.

Everett 2, Hancock 1

EVERETT, Pa. -- Michaela Castle scored and Chandra Younker had five saves in goal for Hancock (0-2), which fell to Everett in overtime.


Heritage 3, New Life 2

FREDERICK, Md. -- Travis Barthalow, Christian Strickler and Mark Taggart each scored a goal for Heritage Academy as the Eagles defeated New Life Christian in an MDCC game.

Chad Lowery recorded 19 saves in goal for the Eagles (3-2) while Bryce Nigh and J.R. Dudeck each had an assist.

Middletown 1, North Hagerstown 0

MIDDLETOWN, Md. -- Daniel De La Riva scored in the 32nd minute as Middletown beat North Hagerstown.

Caleb Mittel had five saves for the Hubs (2-1).

Greencastle 2, Trinity 1

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Kevin Piper and Taylor Kirkpatrick each scored a goal, while Seth Sprague had 18 saves for Greencastle.

Grace 7, Calvary 1

CRESAPTOWN, Md. -- Sean Koontz, Matt Koontz, Lewis Rudy, Andy Michael, Steve Jacques, Garrett Cresto and Nick Montoya each had a goal as Grace Academy defeated Calvary Christian in the MDCC.

Luke Bunting had two assists, while Killian Geeslin, Spencer Horst, Zack Morgan and Jeremiah House each added one for the Knights (5-0, 5-0).

Brandon Kendall scored on a Gavin Hart assist for Calvary.

Clear Spring 4, Goretti 1

CLEAR SPRING -- Matt Blair had a goal and an assist, while Joel Bates, Blake Vincent and Devin Repp also scored for Clear Spring.

Ryan Cooper had five saves for the Blazers (2-1), who outshot St. Maria Goretti, 11-5.

Aaron Wilkinson scored for Goretti.

St. James 3, Berkeley Springs 3

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- David Guwani, Seung Yoo and Andrew Ludwick each had a goal for St. James in the tie.

Paul Musinguzi had an assist and Hao Cheng had nine saves for the Saints (1-1-1).

Washington 3, Jefferson 1

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- Washington's Tanner Robison had a goal and an assist as the Patriots defeated visiting Jefferson.

Robert Brosh and Robert Warfel also scored and Austin McKittrick and Kris Robins each had an assist for Washington.


Heritage 3, New Life 0

FREDERICK, Md. -- Heritage Academy blanked New Life 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 in MDCC action.

Kara Stamper had eight kills, seven blocks, 12 service points and three digs for Heritage (5-0, 5-0), while Callie Butts had 21 assists and Brianna Dorsey had five kills, 11 service points and six digs.

Broadfording 3, Faith 0

Hannah Young had eight kills, five aces and nine digs for Broadfording in its 25-8, 25-11, 25-12 Mason Dixon Christian Conference sweep of Faith Christian.

Charlotte Worsfold had seven kills, two aces and five digs, Rebecca Adams added 22 assists, six aces and seven digs and Danielle DuBois recorded nine digs, five kills and five aces for the Lions (6-0, 5-0).

Smithsburg 3, South Carroll 0

SYKESVILLE, Md. -- Sara Rishell had four blocks, 13 kills and 13 digs to lead Smithsburg in a 25-11, 25-16, 25-23 season-opening sweep of South Carroll.

Katie Sprecher had seven kills and nine service points, while Taylor Belella had 29 assists for Smithsburg (1-0).

Clear Spring 3, Linganore 1

FREDERICK, Md. -- Lindsay Lacy had 14 kills and 15 digs to lead Clear Spring in a 25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-22 season-opening win over Linganore.

Megan Micco had 35 assists, Lily Pinkham had 11 kills and 18 service points, while Hannah House added 11 kills for the Blazers (1-0).

St. Maria Goretti 3, Hancock 0

HANCOCK -- Ellie Burke had 11 service points, including six aces, as St. Maria Goretti swept Hancock 25-9, 25-19, 25-23.
