Nancy Lee Poper, 70, of 36 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, Md., died on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 18, 1938, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Dorothy L. Stoops Avey.
She was a 1956 graduate of Quincy High School.
She is survived by her husband, Roy O. Poper Jr.; two daughters, Annie Poper of Hagerstown and Kristy Sollenberger and husband James of Hagerstown; two sons, Charles T. Shank of Hagerstown, and Michael D. Shank and wife Diane of Waynesboro, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Marianne Rickett and husband Robert of Hagerstown and Marcella Maphis and husband David of Hagerstown; a stepson, Roy O. Poper III and wife Susan of Hagerstown; five brothers, Barry W. Avey, Charles R. Avey, Thomas B. Avey, Jeffrey L. Avey and Robert A. Avey, all of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Rebecca Brown of West Virginia, Matthew and Nathan Sollenberger and Joey, Katie, and Kelly Shank. She is also survived by numerous stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
