Course for supervisors offered at HCC

Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education, Business and Professional Development is offering a course titled "First Line Supervision," which is focused on providing participants with the skills and techniques needed to become effective supervisors and attain positive results with their employees.

Taught by HCC instructor Jim Cannon, the course will meet on Thursdays, Sept. 17, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sept. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at HCC's Valley Mall Center. Cannon is a certified trainer and has taught a variety of management courses throughout the Tri-State area. The fee is $189.

Offered in cooperation with the American Management Association, participants will learn how to identify the roles, competencies and qualities of effective supervisors, build personal credibility and garner commitment from others, build a positive work environment, motivate employees and deliver positive and instructional feedback.
