The South Hagerstown High School 2008-09 spring yearbook supplements have arrived and graduates and other students who purchased one last year can pick up a copy at the school's front desk. The supplements will be kept at either the front desk or in the main office through January.

Locust Point median beautification project

The Locust Point Neighborhoods 1st group will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. to view the engineering drawing of the proposed beautification of the triangular shaped median in front of Locust Point Market.

The meeting will be at Congregation B'nai Abraham, at 53 E. Baltimore St., in Hagerstown.

The goal is to provide an attractive welcome sign posted in a garden setting at the gateway to the neighborhood.

Tim Young, from the city's engineering department, will make the presentation and answer questions.

All Locust Point residents are encouraged to attend.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Tuesday -- Adam Lewis will be the guest speaker. He will talk about the tax assessment process.

The Hagerstown Lions Club has collected the following items for its sight and sound project: 81 pairs of glasses; four frames; 194 lenses; one hearing aid; and 33 cases.

Discovery Station

Sept. 12 -- Dean Truax, creator and pilot of the Silver Papoose aircraft on display at Discovery Station, talks about its design and construction, 2 p.m.

Location changed for class of '84 reunion

The South Hagerstown High School class of 1984 has changed the location for its 25-year reunion.

It will now be a dinner buffet Saturday at Nick's Airport Inn in Hagerstown.

A social hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. with an open bar, wine and beer, and fruit and cheese hors d'oeuvres. A buffet and cash bar will follow. Tickets cost $30 per person. Send reservations to 1943 Winston Drive, Hagerstown MD 21740 ASAP with checks made payable to South High Class of 1984.

On Friday, the class will meet at School Stadium to cheer on the Rebels football team. A tent for 1984 alumni will be set up at the South Potomac Street entrance near the gym.

Hendershot ride

The second annual Tour de Park Linn Hendershot Memorial Kids Bike Ride will be Saturday at Fairgrounds Park from 8 a.m. to noon.

The event is for those ages 1 to 15, plus those with disabilities.

Participants can ride, walk or wheelchair through the fairgrounds. There will be 4K, 10K and mini-K options.

You do not have to raise money to ride, only to be eligible for prizes (minimum $50 raised).

Bring your bicycle, tricycle, wheelchair, walker or similar mode of transportation.

The grand prize is an HP Touch Screen TX2 laptop computer.

Second prize is a Nintendo DSI package or party at Pump It Up.

Third prize is a Chuck E. Cheese pizza party plus game tokens.

This year's event will help support Project Lifesaver, a local program of MIHI (Many Individuals Helping Individuals), that provides a radio frequency transmitter for participants to wear which aids in rapid location of a missing loved one who wanders off due to autism, Alzheimer's, Down syndrome or other related brain disorders.

The South High Alumni Association will meet Thursday in the school's media center at 7 p.m.

South High yard sale

The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will hold a yard sale Saturday, Sept. 19, at the school from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Setup starts at 7 a.m. Spaces rent for $10.
