Class of 1978



The Clear Spring High School class of 1978 will gather for lunch Saturday at noon at the Clear Spring Legion pavilion.

No reservation is necessary and there is no charge. Everyone attending is asked to bring a dish to share and bring their own place settings and drinks. For more information, contact Donna Spickler at 301 223-7841 or dkspickler@myactv.net.

Chicken barbecue

 

Blair's Valley First Church of God will hold a chicken barbecue at Clopper's Grove in Blair's Valley, 13505 Blair's Valley Road, Saturday, Sept. 19, from 4 p.m. until sold out.

The meal will be served in the fellowship hall. 

The menu includes 1/2 chicken for $8 or 1/4 chicken for $6, baked potato, green beans, applesauce, roll, tea, coffee and dessert.

Big money bingo

 

The Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a big bingo money bonanza Saturday, Oct. 17. 

All the games pay $500 and the last one pays $1,000.

The event will be held at the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co.'s Special Events Building.

Library news

 

The Clear Spring Library will hold an infant story time Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 11:15 a.m.

Those ages 6 to 18 months, along with an adult caregiver, will enjoy simple storybooks, nursery rhymes, music, action rhymes and other age-appropriate activities.

Participants are asked to register in advance by calling 301-842-2730.

Did you know that George Zimmerman was a canal boat captain on the C&O Canal from 1907 to 1914?  He was better known as "Elwood." His father, "Bob" Zimmerman, was also a canal boat captain. 

George boated out of Ernstville, a small community in Big Pool.
