FREDERICK, Md.- Local students were honored recently for their academic achievements at a convocation ceremony at Hood College.

Students who qualify for the convocation honors have sophomore, junior or senior status; have at least a 3.6 grade-point average for the preceding academic year; have taken at least 12 credit hours on a letter grade basis during each semester; and have no outstanding incomplete grades.

Students who are named Hood Scholars have received convocation honors for at least two consecutive years.

Boonsboro: Jamie Lee Bingaman, Holly Lynn Malcolm and Lauren Nicole Miller;

Clear Spring: Mark Daniel Porter (Hood Scholar);

Hagerstown: Nabela Enam, Sarah May Johnston (Hood Scholar), Diana Rose Keely, Ellen May Livingston, Allison Lyndsay Perry and Ashley Nicole Rimby;

Hancock: Samantha Grace Truax;

Maugansville: Nancy Marie Shank;

Smithsburg: Alison Brooke Blickenstaff (Hood Scholar) and Nicholas Steven Burdette (Hood Scholar);

Williamsport: Jeannette L. Morris.


PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Tracy Alicea of Hagerstown and Jacqueline Stewart of Rohrersville have been named to the dean's list at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for the past academic year.

Tracy, who is majoring in hotel and restaurant management, earned a 3.6 grade-point average for the fall semester.

Jacqueline, who is majoring in biology, received a 3.8 grade-point average for the spring semester.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Robert Emmett Maguire of Frederick, Md., earned a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior College.
