CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- A 27-year-old Jefferson County man who police accused of seting his brother's motor home on fire was in Eastern Regional Jail Monday night on a charge of first-degree arson.

Ricky Farren French Jr., of 19 Flowing Acres Road, was arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Demory within minutes after police arrived at 205 Gray Rock Road to investigate the fire late Monday morning, the deputy said.

At least one witness told police they saw French set the fire in a mobile home park off Flowing Springs Road, Demory said.

Independent Fire Co. volunteers responded to the fire at 11:41 a.m. and the heat from the blaze caused heavy damage to a GMC minivan parked near the motor home, Demory said.

French was spotted walking on Harrow Place and was arrested about 30 minutes after Demory said he arrived to investigate.

Demory said French admitted to setting the fire with gasoline after having an argument with his sibling over money.
