Great weather

Who ordered this absolutely picture-perfect start to September?

I would like to personally thank them. Open the windows and breathe in all the beauty that fall offers.

So now that school is back into full swing and routines are, well, routine, we need to be in tune to our calendars to get everything done and I am here to make sure that you get these important dates penciled in so they are not missed.

Change in location

A change in venue is the first thing on my list of things to tell you.

The South Hagerstown High School class of 1984's 25-year reunion has changed locations and now will be held at Nick's Airport Inn and will include a dinner buffet.

The event is set for Saturday, Sept. 12.

Enjoy an evening of wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres from 6 to 7 p.m. and then dinner. The event costs $30 per person.

Send your reservations and check payable to South High Class of 1984 to 1943 Winston Drive, Hagerstown MD, 21740. For more information, call 301-790-1341.

Basket bingo

The Funkstown Lions Club will hold a Longaberger basket bingo Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Funkstown Fire Hall.

Tickets cost $20 for 25 games, including specials.

There will also be door prizes, 50/50 and raffles. Food will be available. All baskets will be filled.

For more information, call Butch at 301-223-8845.

Pooch plunge

The sixth annual Pooch Plunge will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Claude M. Potterfield Pool on Frederick street in Hagerstown.

Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

Last year, more than 200 dogs were in attendance and $1,500 was raised for the shelter.

Admission for one dog and handler is $5. Additional dogs and handlers cost $2 each.
