Collect seeds, grow trees

Potomac Conservancy is partnering with the Potomac Valley Audubon Society to hold two Growing Native seed-collection events. The first event is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, at the society's Eidolon Nature Preserve in Morgan County, W.Va. The other will be Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Yankauer Nature Preserve in Berkeley County.

At each event, a state forester is on hand to aid with tree identification. seed-collection bags are provided will be provided. The seeds will be donated to stae tree nurseries where they are nurtured into small tree seedlings. The seedlings are then planted along streams and rivers in the Potomac watershed.
