MSO plans second season of Little Maestros

HAGERSTOWN -- The Maryland Symphony Orchestra has announced the schedule for the second season of its Little Maestros program.

Little Maestros, a program held in conjunction with the Kinder Konzert series, is presented by the MSO and the Washington County Board of Education.

The program is for ages 2 to 5. Classes -- which include exploration, movement, singing and listening to music -- are taught by a certified instructor with preschool and public school experience, according to an e-mailed release from the MSO.

There are five, six-week sessions from Sept. 15 to May 27, 2010.

Classes will be at Paramount Elementary School on Tuesday mornings; at Eastern Elementary School on Wednesday mornings; and at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts on Thursday evenings, according to the MSO.

Each session costs $45 per student.

Sessions are:

  • Woodwinds, Sept. 15 to Oct. 22

  • Jazz, Nov. 3 to Dec. 17

  • Woodwinds, Jan. 5 to Feb. 11, 2010

  • Brass, Feb. 23 to April 8, 2010

  • String/orchestra, April 20 to May 27, 2010

    Classes for ages 2 and 3 (and parents) are Tuesdays from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

    Classes for ages 4 and 5 meet Tuesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. or Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.

    Family classes for ages 2 to 5 will be Wednesdays from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
