Four-run third enough for Suns

LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- The Hagerstown Suns erased a three-run deficit with a four-run third inning and went on to defeat the Lakewood BlueClaws 5-3 on Monday in the South Atlantic League.

Lakewood took a 1-0 lead in the first when Harold Garcia singled and came around to score on Jim Murphy's sacrifice fly. The BlueClaws made it 3-0 in the second on Anthony Gose's two-run double.

The Suns stormed back in the third. James Keithley doubled with one out, Chris Curran walked and Valerio Heredia was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Steve Lombardozzi drove in a run with a groundout to first, Derek Norris walked to reload the bases and Tyler Moore hit a three-run double to left.

Hagerstown added a run in the fifth, which started when Curran reached on a strikeout and wild pitch. Curran stole second, went to third on Heredia's single and scored on Norris' single.

After a rough start, Marcos Frias (9-4) settled down to pitch five effective innings. He allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out three. Chris Lugo pitched four scoreless innings for his second save, allowing three hits and striking out two.

n Suns catcher Derek Norris was chosen as the South Atlantic League's Most Outstanding Major League Prospect on the league's 2009 Annual All-Star Team.

Through Sunday, Norris was hitting .288 with 23 home runs in 121 games.

Suns second baseman Steve Lombardozzi joined Norris on the team, released Monday.
