On Aug. 22, the chapter members attended a TOPS workshop in Boonsboro where ideas were suggested on how to make each TOPS chapter better.
The members also discussed how to get new members and how to help one another reach their goal weight.
The chapter meets Thursdays at St. Paul's United Methodist church, 51 S. Main St. in Smithsburg. Weigh-in starts at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m.

Weight issues
Washington County Health Department is offering a new program to help individuals struggling with weight issues.
The Solution Method for Weight focuses on the root of the obesity problem: stress.
Classes begin Sept. 23 at Fort Ritchie Community Center. Classes will be held Wednesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Yard sale
An indoor yard sale will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leitersburg Sept. 4 and 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Baked goods, country ham sandwiches and chicken corn soup will be sold in addition to household goods, small appliances, clothing, toys, books, etc.
