HANCOCK -- Shirley I. Divelbliss, 73, of Berkeley Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Jackson Street, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born July 29, 1936, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie Alice Diehl Divelbliss.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Hancock (Md.) Church of the Nazarene and a member of Hancock Senior Citizens.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Smith of Bedford, Pa., and Hazel McCusker of Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers, Charles Divelbliss of Hancock, Herbert Divelbliss of Crystal Spring, Pa., and Joseph Divelbliss Jr. of Hagerstown; and a number of nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Hull, Ethel Dively and Ruth Stotler; and five brothers, Curtis Divelbliss, Thurman Divelbliss, James Divelbliss, Homer Divelbliss and Harold Divelbliss.

A service will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. The Rev. Willis Swope will officiate. Burial will be in Warfordsburg United Methodist Church Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hancock Church of the Nazarene, c/o Ron Michael, 530 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, MD 21750.
