MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A man was at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center on Wednesday morning after he was stabbed during a fight early Wednesday at Legz Club on Aero Street in Martinsburg, Berkeley County (W.Va.) Sheriff's Department Lt. Gary Harmison said.

The stabbing happened about 3:30 a.m. and involved a knife, Harmison said in a telephone interview.

The man first was taken to City Hospital in Martinsburg, a Berkeley County Emergency Services dispatcher said. He had been in stable condition about 5 a.m., but later was transferred to Winchester Medical Center, Harmison said.

Investigators were not sure whether the victim's injuries were life-threatening, Harmison said.

The sheriff's department was not yet releasing the names of the people involved in the stabbing, Harmison said.
