White Tiger Martial Arts will host a Kickathon for Breast Cancer Saturday, Sept. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Instead of using their kicking skills to earn black belts, students at Jimmy's White Tiger Martial Arts will strike a blow against breast cancer during the karate studio's annual Kickathon for Breast Cancer.

Owner and master instructor James C. Smith has decided to hold a kickathon, during which karate students collect donations used to sponsor walkers during the three-day Susan Komen Walk for Breast Cancer, as a way to help women fight the disease.

During each class, students are required to kick for 10 minutes, with most students capable of performing between 350 and 500 kicks.

Although the event is limited to White Tiger Martial Arts students, residents are encouraged to donate by stopping by the studio or calling 301-790-1123.
