Strong Women in Franklin County

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Cooperative Extension will conduct the Strong Women Program in Franklin County.

The course is a six-week program geared for middle-aged and older women. The program is based on years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improve the health of women of all ages. The program was developed to help women increase their strength, bone density, balance and energy and help them look and feel better.

Participants will meet two times a week for one hour sessions. The program costs $45. Some weights will be provided.

Classes will be offered at the following locations:

· Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange St., Shippensburg, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 1 to Oct. 8.

· Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg, 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 1 to Oct. 8.

· New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Road, Fayetteville, 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 31 to Oct. 7.

· Penn State Cooperative Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 31 to Oct. 7.

· First United Methodist Church, 11 N. Fayette St., Mercersburg, 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 1 to Oct. 8.

· Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Intersection of Pa. 75 and Pa. 641, Spring Run, 9 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 1 to Oct. 8.
