Shamrock Inn patrons raise money for school supplies

August 24, 2009

Patrons of the Shamrock Inn in Hagerstown collected money to buy school supplies and delivered them recently to Conococheague Elementary School.

The tavern held a fundraiser for children whose parents couldn't purchase school supplies during these difficult economic times.

The tavern placed a jug at the bar for three weeks and collected all of the sales ads in the newspaper for school supplies. The tavern also got the school supplies list from the school for each grade.

After purchasing the supplies, tavern owner Maureen Taylor and her granddaughter, Calissa Rodriquez, filled bags for five students in each grade which includes kindergarten through grade five.

The supplies were delivered to the school where Ryan Hench, school principal, accepted the items.
