Lahr, Rea receive awards from Hagerstown CAP Squadron

The Hagerstown Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol has announced the following two awards:

o Kyle W. Lahr has obtained the Civil Air Patrol's Mitchell Award.

The award enables him to advance into the upper echelon of the cadet program and makes him eligible for advanced rank if entering military service.

Kyle has participated in the Civil Air Patrol for three years and is a cadet 2nd lieutenant.

Kyle will be entering the ninth grade this fall at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts in the music program.

In his spare time, he plays bass guitar in his band Rise from the Ashes.

Kyle hopes to work in the medical field.

o Esther E. Rea earned the Civil Air Patrol's Earhart Award, the second highest award attainable in the cadet program.

The award enables the cadet to enter military service at an advanced rank and makes he or she eligible for the International Cadet Exchange Program.


Esther has participated in Civil Air Patrol for five years and is a cadet captain.

She is homeschooled and will be in the eleventh grade this fall.

She will also be taking college credit courses at Carroll Community College.

Esther enjoys her church mission trips, being a member of the Damascus Theatre Co. and restoring a 1942 vintage truck.

She hopes to attend college and become a missionary pilot.
