August 17, 2009

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Municipal League elected Town of Bath Mayor Susan J. Webster to serve as president for the 2009-10 term.

"I feel as though my peers from all around West Virginia have elected me the 'mayor of mayors.' I am flattered and humbled to be of service to the people of municipalities in the Mountain State," Webster said on Aug. 12.

According to a press release from the League, on Aug. 7, "city officials representing every region of the state elected Mayor Webster unanimously" at their 40th annual conference in Charleston, W.Va.

Webster served as vice president in 2008-09, as well as chairman of the bylaws and nominating committees. She serves on the legislative committee, the program services board and is "only the fourth woman to hold this chair in the history of the League," according to the release.

"I am very appreciative of the confidence shown in me by my colleagues from across the state of West Virginia," Webster was quoted as saying in the release. "The Municipal League is the advocate for cities, towns and villages, and it is a distinct honor to lead a group made up of municipal officials who act daily on the front line of government."
