Mary Lou Black, 71, of Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born May 1, 1938, in Downsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Lester Henry and Vera Katherine Downs Martin.

She was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport High School.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard E. Black, in April 2009.

She was employed as a bookkeeper by Lowe Products Co. Inc. in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Boonsboro, Md.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie J. Hilker and her husband, Michael, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Kathy S. Harrigan and her husband, Brian, of East Berlin, Pa.; one stepson, Richard E. Black II of Galeton, Pa.; one sister, Dorothy M. Waters of Hagerstown; four nieces; her church family; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn A. Baer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Epperly officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
