Fairplay Days to feature jousting tournament



Fairplay Days will be held Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Tilghmanton Woods Community Park at the corner of Manor Church and Breathedsville roads, just east of Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65).

Featured events will be a jousting tournament provided by the Western Maryland Jousting Club, classic cars and a silent auction.

Barbecue chicken dinners, homemade soups and country ham sandwiches will be available.

Basket bingo planned



The Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold a basket bingo Saturday at the fire hall. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo will begin at 1 p.m. The event will include 27 regular games for $10 with three specials at additional cost. Food will be available.

Endless Summer event



St. Mark's Episcopal Church, at 18313 Lappans Road, will present an Endless Summer event Sunday.

Free school supplies for children attending Rockland Woods, Fountain Rock and Boonsboro Elementary Schools will be given away to the first 100 children who go to the Parish Hall between noon and 2 p.m.

There will be a moon bounce and music from the St. Mark's musicians playing favorites from the 1970s to the present from 2 to 4 p.m.

Bakersville Reunion Day



The Bakersville Reunion Day will be held Saturday, Aug, 29, starting at 3 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17626 Bakersville Road. There will be a pig roast, corn on the cob, watermelon, ice cream and soft drinks.

Zumba classes offered



St. Mark's Parish Hall, 18313 Lappans Road, is offering Zumba Tuesdays Sept. 1, 8, 15 and 22, at 5:45 and 6:50 p.m.

The four sessions will cost $10 for September only. Prepaid registration is required.

Zumba is a fast-paced, calorie-burning, cardio workout done to Latin rhythms. The registration deadline is Aug. 31.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Wednesday, Oct. 14, St. Mark's Parish Hall will offer Fall Zumba classes Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Classes will run through Dec. 15 and 16. Prepaid registration of $40 per person/per session is required.

Jackie Willison to speak at senior site



Jackie Willison will speak on "Those Were The Days" Monday at the senior site in Keedysville. Helen House will speak on "Eating From The Rainbow" and conduct exercises Tuesday.

Antietam Lodge to present special communication



The Master, Wardens and Brethren of Antietam Lodge 197 invite all Master Masons to join them in the raising of Nolan Jay Brandenburg Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic Temple of Friendship Lodge 84 at 54 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Under dispensation from the Grand Master of Maryland, the FreeState Shield and Square Club will assist Antietam Lodge in the summertime communication.

The FreeState membership consists of various state and federal law enforcement officers from around the state. The members will be in the uniform of their respective branch of service.

There will be refreshments following the ceremony.
