MAUGANSVILLE -- A man wanted in Friday's robbery of the Wayne Avenue branch of F&M Bank in Chambersburg, Pa., was captured Wednesday afternoon at a house on Village Mill Drive, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Charles B. McNeal was caught about 5:30 p.m. after sheriff's officials acted on a tip from the Chambersburg Police Department, according to a press release.

Sgt. Roy Harsh of the Washington County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday night he was not sure why McNeal was at the house.

Five officers from the sheriff's office went to the house and showed a person in the house a photograph of McNeal, Harsh said.

The person said McNeal was in the house, and he was found in the basement, Harsh said.

McNeal was apprehended without incident and was being held as a fugitive from justice in Pennsylvania, the release said.

McNeal was to be taken to the Washington County Detention Center although a spokesman said Wednesday night that McNeal was not on the jail's roster.

A warrant issued for McNeal, of no fixed address, charges him with robbery, criminal conspiracy and theft, the Chambersburg Police Department said.

A 17-year-old female was identified as an accomplice and was taken into custody early Saturday, police said.

A portion of stolen money was recovered, police said.

Police said the robber entered the bank around 12:14 p.m. Friday and demanded money, threatening as if he had a weapon.

The man then took an undetermined amount of money and fled on foot, police said.
