The Rome Braves rallied late to win both games of their doubleheader with the Hagerstown Suns on Wednesday evening at Municipal Stadium. They won 2-1 in the first game and 4-2 in the nightcap.

Each game was scheduled to be a seven-inning contest.

In the first game, Calvin Culver hit a game-winning home run to right-center to lead off the eighth inning against reliever Carlos Peralta (4-5).

Leading 1-0 in the seventh, the Suns were one out away from winning, before Luis Sumoza's RBI single sent the game into an extra frame.

The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the fifth on Nick Arata's two-out RBI single.

Steve Lombardozzi had two of Hagerstown's four hits.

In the nightcap, Rome scored four runs in the sixth off Suns starter Paul Demny (2-9) to take a 4-2 lead. Culver and Ryan Barba hit back-to-back two-run singles in the rally.

The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Derek Norris led off with a double, went to third on a single by Tyler Moore and scored as Steven Souza grounded into a play.

Chris Curran's RBI single made it 2-0 in the fifth.
