Guessford honored for service to town



WILLIAMSPORT -- Longtime Williamsport town employee Les Guessford was honored for his 25 years of service to the town during Monday night's regular Williamsport Town Council meeting.

Guessford, who works for the public works department, was also honored during a reception following the meeting.

Council honors three for raising money for school supplies



WILLIAMSPORT -- Three girls were honored during Monday night's regular Williamsport Town Council meeting for raising money for school supplies for needy children during Williamsport Bike Nite.

Shannon Butts, and sisters Rebekah and Emily Bryan set up a table and raised about $300, officials said.

The money was used to buy paper, pencils, erasers and binders, which were piled in a table in the council chambers.

The supplies will be given to students at Williamsport High, Williamsport Elementary and Springfield Middle schools, officials said.
