Mary Gardner Grove, 90

SHARPSBURG, Md. - Mary Gardner Grove, 90, of Sharpsburg, Md., died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital.

Mary was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Jefferson County, W.Va., to the late Henry Cleveland and Bertie Butler Kave Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William Grove, in 1978.

She was employed by the Ram's Den at Shepherd University for more than 25 years, until her retirement.

Mary graduated in 1937 from Shepherdstown High School.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg.

She was a life member of Antietam Post 236 American Legion Auxiliary, Sharpsburg, and the AARP.

Survivors include daughter, Cindy Weaver and her husband, Lee, of Sharpsburg; son, Kim Grove and his wife, Debbie, of Findlay, Ohio; three grandsons, Chris Weaver and his wife, Tracie, of New Market, Va., John Weaver and his wife, Jamie, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jim Grove of Findlay, Ohio; and great-granddaughter, Nora Katherine Weaver of New Market, Va.

She was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Grove Jr.; and two sisters, Margaret Moore and Katherine Cook.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Alfriend officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, today from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 1 p.m. today for the convenience of family and friends.
