MARTINSBURG, W.Va. --Â A lieutenant with the Martinsburg Police Department was arraigned Monday morning on a charge of battery, according to an e-mailed release issued by Police Chief T.C. "Ted" Anderson.
The charge against Lt. John Sherman Jr. stemmed from a call for a battery in progress to which West Virginia State Police responded Thursday.
Troopers responding to the 7:20 p.m. call to 9512 Tuscarora Pike learned that one of the people involved in the incident was Sherman, who was off duty at the time, the release alleges.
As a result of the investigation conducted by West Virginia State Police, a battery warrant for Sherman was obtained from Berkeley Co. Magistrate Sandra L. Miller.
