United Way looking to match volunteers with Clear Spring projects

August 10, 2009

CLEAR SPRING -- The United Way of Washington County is seeking Clear Spring residents who need home-improvement assistance during the annual Day of Caring on Oct. 7.

Jenny Fleming, community impact director for the United Way of Washington County, said the event matches volunteers with people who need work done on their homes.

"We're trying to recruit as many projects as we can by the end of the month," Fleming said. "We'd like to give Clear Spring a little attention."

Fleming asked the Clear Spring Town Council on Monday to identify prospective residents who need assistance. The council members told Fleming to get back with them next week.

Fleming said candidates who receive help, which includes landscaping and painting, typically are elderly or have disabilities.
