No one injured in house fire

August 09, 2009

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Waynesboro area firefighters were called to a house fire in the 8800 block of Mentzer Gap Road in Quincy Township, Pa., at 12:48 p.m. Sunday.

A passer-by saw smoke and used a neighbor's phone to call 911, according to Bob Blizzard, a captain with the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department.

"The fire was small in nature, but the heat and humidity takes a big toll on us," Blizzard said while wiping a towel over his forehead.

Nobody was home when the fire broke out, he said.

Firefighters controlled the fire, but they remained on the scene for several hours as they waited for a Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal to be sent from Harrisburg, Pa. The fire marshal was expected to investigate the incident's cause.
