A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday evening when she was struck by a car on Md. 632, Maryland State Police said in a news release.

At about 6 p.m., a 1999 Mercury Sable was northbound on Md. 632 south of Interstate 70 when the girl ran into the northbound lane from the right shoulder of the road, police said.

The car struck the girl, who hit the windshield and fell off the back of the car, police said.

The girl was in fair condition Thursday at Washington County Hospital, Trooper 1st Class Ryan Shaffer said Thursday night.

The girl, who suffered broken bones, will be in the hospital for at least seven more days, Shaffer said Thursday.

Shaffer said an investigation was continuing and a reconstructionist was being used to recreate the incident.
