Clevelandtown School to hold 21st reunion

Alumni of Clevelandtown Country School will hold their 21st reunion Thursday, Aug, 13, at the Boonsboro American Legion at 710 N. Main St., on U.S. 40, the Old National Pike, north of Boonsboro at the intersection of Lappans Road. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a meal at 6. Please send your $11 to Betty Hull. Sharpsburg Lions plan end-of-summer events

The Sharpsburg Lions Club will attend a changing of the banner at the New Midway Fire Hall Saturday and a sing-along Thursday, Aug. 13, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home.

The Lions will hold their regular meeting Thursday, Aug. 20.

They will attend a double basket bingo at the Sykesville/Freedom Fire Hall, sponsored by the Freedom District Lioness and Lions clubs, on Saturday, Aug. 22.


Heritage Museum to host Taste of the Garden event

The Washington County Rural Heritage Museum and Village at 7313 Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65), 7 miles south of Hagerstown, will host a Taste of the Garden event at the German 4 Square Garden and cabins behind the museum Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. as part of its Second Sundays in the Garden program.

Items from the garden, which is planted and managed by the Washington County Master Gardeners, will include heirloom tomatoes, cantaloupe and zucchini.

Activities for children will include making a "thumb pot," a traditional way of watering the garden in the 1800s.

The garden was started by the museum in 2006, with the help of the Master Gardeners, as part of the Homestead at the Reeder and Poffenberger cabins at the Village to depict a time of the mid-1800s. For more information, call 240-420-1714.
