Air Force Airman Nathan R. Wilson, son of Robbie Wilson of Clear Spring, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Corey D. Leggett, son of Doug and Kim Leggett of Williamsport, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Leggett is a 2003 graduate of Williamsport High School.

Navy Seaman Zachary M. Ausherman, a 2004 graduate of Catoctin High School, Thurmont, Md., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Bradley W. Bossler, a 2007 graduate of Williamsport High School, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.


Lt. Col. Michael J. Timmerman has retired from the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of military service.

Prior to retiring, he was commander and professor of Aerospace Studies of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Detachment 475 at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. In this capacity, Timmerman was responsible to the university president, region commander and Air Force ROTC commander for recruiting, training, motivating and educating Air Force officer candidates. The detachment administers college-level officer training to future Air Force officers.

He joined the Air Force in 1983 as an enlisted member and rose through the ranks from airman to staff sergeant. He was separated from the Air Force to pursue a bachelor's degree at East Carolina University and complete the ROTC program at the host university. He graduated in 1990 was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

During his career, Timmerman served at military installations in Alabama, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C.

His list of duty positions included serving as a member of the Air Force Presidential Honor Guard, security police shift supervisor, missile combat crew commander, flight commander and leadership curriculum developer, social actions chief, operations officer, military personnel flight commander and military entrance processing station commander.

His major military decorations and awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, four awards of the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Combat Readiness Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with one device, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and several other service ribbons.

Timmerman is the son of Phyllis D. Timmerman of Camden, N.C., and the brother of Patrick J. Timmerman of Hagerstown.

His wife, June, is the daughter of Elmer and Sharon Schortzmann of Rapid City, S.D.

Timmerman is a 1980 graduate of Camden High School. He received a bachelor's degree in 1990 from East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., and a master's degree in 1996 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla.

He will be making his home near Goldsboro, N.C., where he has accepted a position as the Air Force Junior ROTC senior aerospace science instructor at Southern Wayne High School, Dudley, N.C.
