Greetings, neighbors

Hope you survived the torrential storm that rolled through the area Sunday morning. Several homes on our street were without power, but we were still able to use all the modern conveniences to prepare for church.

Band preview set for Thursday

If you live near the school complex, you already know that the 2009-10 Boonsboro High Warriors Marching Band, under the direction of Micah Socks, is now in band camp.

The band will wrap up summer camp Thursday with a preview show and picnic. The sneak peek at the competition show is at 6 p.m. at the school. The public is invited.

Lions Club gives awards, installs new officers

The Boonsboro Lions Club held its annual meeting in July.

Soccer equipment to be recycled

It's time to get ready for the fall youth soccer season and check out your family's equipment needs.

The Boonsboro Recycling Task force is teaming up with the American Youth Soccer Organization in Boonsboro to coordinate a gently used soccer equipment swap on Saturdays, Aug. 29 and Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The swap will take place at the AYSO soccer fields near Boonsboro High School.

If you donate cleats, shinguards or a ball, you may take cleats, shinguards or a ball at no cost. Individuals not donating will be asked to make a $2 donation for each item. All proceeds will go to AYSO. Any item not swapped will be given to a nonprofit organization that donates cleats to underprivileged athletes. Anyone having soccer equipment that they wish to donate may drop it off at the AYSO soccer fields on Aug. 29 starting at 8 a.m.
