Discovery Station



A Titanic shipbuilding class will be held at Discovery Station on Aug. 8, 15, 22, 29 and Sept. 5.

Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to noon for 10 teams of two, an adult and a student. Students must be 8 years old or older.

The class will be led by Norman Little, master builder of the 15-foot Titanic replica in the Transportation Gallery at Discovery Station.

Volleyball signup



The E. Russell Hicks Middle School volleyball program is holding registration for girls for the upcoming season.

The league is for girls in sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

Lions Club



In lieu of its weekly meeting, the Hagerstown Lions Club will hold Family Night at Discovery Station on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The cost for members is $10 and $5 for guests, payable to Lion Paul Leatherman. Those 3 and younger will be admitted free.

Lioness Club



The Hagerstown Lioness Club will hold its annual family indoor picnic Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 721 W. Church St, Hagerstown.

The social time begins at 6 p.m., followed by a meal at 6:30 p.m.

The picnic is for Hagerstown Lionesses, their family members and houseguests. The picnic is considered to be a regular meeting for the Lionesses.

Any Lioness who plans to attend and did not make a reservation at the July meeting should call the social chairpersons at 301-797-6188 or 301-791-7809.

Free movie



The movie "Open Season 2" will be shown at Washington County Free Library Friday, Aug. 14.

The movie will be shown in the side parking lot at the Central Library starting at dusk.

Free popcorn and refreshments will be available while supplies last. Bring your own chairs.

Market in the Square



A Market in the Square will be held Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Hagerstown's Public Square.

Vendors from Hagerstown's City Farmers Market will bring their produce, baked goods and crafts outdoors to the square.

The annual yard sale at Hagerstown's Fairgrounds Park will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the stables area.

Class of 1979 plans reunion



The South Hagerstown High School class of 1979 is planning its 30th year reunion Oct. 2 and 3.

The reunion committee is looking for classmates.
