Arts program under way at Memorial Rec Center

August 03, 2009

The Hagerstown Neighborhood Center is sponsoring a summer arts program for the second year at Memorial Recreation Center in Hagerstown.

Children attending the summer camp are participating in an imaginary weeklong tour of eight foreign countries or continents. They have prepared their passports, and are busy learning about different cultures, including art, native costumes, storytelling, and music and dance.

The program directors are Kenisha Rubio and Jessica Wigfield, with assistance from the Rec Center staff. A talent show is being prepared for the families and parents Thursday.

The Hagerstown Neighborhood Center is a nonprofit company created by Trinity Lutheran and St. John's Episcopal churches of Hagerstown.
