Young artists work sought for festival



SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg Corn Festival invites young artists to enter the second annual Corn Festival Children's Art Contest.

Artists will be judged by age group - ages 7 and younger; 8 to 11; and 12 to 17. Prizes for each age group are $15 for first prize, $10 for second, and $5 for third. All artwork will become the property of the corn festival.

Artwork should not be larger than 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches and may be in any medium. Affix a label to the back of your art with artist's name and age and parent's or guardian's name, address and phone number.

Artwork must be submitted to the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce office, 22 E. King St., Shippensburg, between Aug. 3 and Aug. 21.

All artwork will be displayed behind the library on the day of the festival. Winners will be notified by Aug. 27, and prizes will be given on the day of the festival, Saturday, Aug. 29.

Entries needed for Miniature Art 2009



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Council for the Arts is now accepting entries for its "Miniature Art 2009" Exhibition.

The exhibit will be Thursday, Nov. 5 through Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.

Deadline for entries is Friday, Sept. 25. Artists may submit up to four works.
