Incidents reported to Washington County deputies

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded recently to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Tuesday, July 28:

o At 2:31 p.m., property was found in the area of Virginia Avenue and Halfway Boulevard. A Milwaukee drill and case was found in the road and can be claimed at the sheriff's office.

o At 4:58 p.m., a domestic dispute was reported in the area of 16200 block of Spielman Road.

o At 5:53 p.m., theft was reported in the 9200 block of Mountain Meadow Drive. Someone took a UPS package from a home's porch.

o At 9:05 p.m., an assault was reported at the Clear Spring Carnival.

o AT 9:11 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 17900 block of Lyles Drive. Someone took a laptop and TV.


Wednesday, July 29:

o At 7:43 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 4000 block of Mills Road. Someone took the battery out of a four-wheeler.

o At 7:48 a.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 21300 block of Mount Lena Road. Someone broke into a home and took a cash box.

o At 10:23 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 21400 block of Jefferson Boulevard. Someone took tools and a saw.

o At 11:38 a.m., theft was reported in the 11200 block of Greenmount Avenue. Someone took a bicycle.

o At 5:23 p.m., theft was reported in the 12200 block of Bucky Avenue. Someone took a riding lawn mower and chainsaw.

o At 7:53 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 16200 block of McGregor Drive. Someone shot a bedroom window.

Firefighters battle house blaze in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Firefighters responded early Thursday morning to a house fire in the 1600 block of North Tennessee Avenue, a Berkeley County Emergency Services dispatcher said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 2:41 a.m., the dispatcher said.

Martinsburg firefighters were at the scene until about 4:30 a.m., he said.
