Suns fused by Power

West Virginia jumped to an early 6-0 lead and cruised to an 8-3 victory over the Hagerstown Suns on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series at Municipal Stadium.

The Power reached Suns starter A.J. Morris for a pair of runs in the second inning on RBI singles by Starling Marte ad Robbie Grossman.

Kyle Morgan homered in the third inning and the Power made it 4-0 in the fourth on two singles and an error by Suns second baseman Valerio Heredia.

Reliever Kevin Light gave up a pair of runs in the sixth inning before the Suns notched their first runs of the game with the arrival of Power reliever Duke Welker in the seventh inning.

Nick Arata doubled and scored on a fielder's choice and passed ball. Nick Curran scored on a single by Robby Jacobsen and Heredia, who had a bunt single, eventually scored on a single by Tyler Moore.

West Virginia's Quinton Miller scattered six hits and two walks over the first six innings to pick up his first win.
