West Virginia jumped to an early 6-0 lead and cruised to an 8-3 victory over the Hagerstown Suns on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series at Municipal Stadium.
The Power reached Suns starter A.J. Morris for a pair of runs in the second inning on RBI singles by Starling Marte ad Robbie Grossman.
Kyle Morgan homered in the third inning and the Power made it 4-0 in the fourth on two singles and an error by Suns second baseman Valerio Heredia.
Reliever Kevin Light gave up a pair of runs in the sixth inning before the Suns notched their first runs of the game with the arrival of Power reliever Duke Welker in the seventh inning.
