Spencer Martin pulls off unassisted triple play

The Maugansville Little League 7-8 All-Star Team was playing its third game in the Rally at the Valley Tournament July 21 when something rare occurred.

In the fifth inning, the team was in trouble with the bases loaded and no outs. A Valley Little League player hit a line drive to Spencer Martin, who was playing first base for Maugansville. Spencer caught the line drive for the first out. He immediately stepped on first base for the second out. Quickly, Spencer ran across the field to touch third base and get that runner - three outs.

Spencer made an unassisted triple play, one of the rarest plays in baseball.

It is hard to believe that at such a young age, a player could be so aware of the situation. Needless to say, his team and the Maugansville fans went wild.

Spencer is the grandson of Polly Martin and the son of Tom and Tara Martin of Maugansville. Way to go, Spencer.
