Legends rally in 9th again to beat Suns

July 28, 2009

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Hagerstown's Carlos Peralta hit Lexington's Michael Diaz with a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Monday, giving the Legends a 6-5 victory over the Suns.

It was the second straight game in which the Legends rallied from behind in the ninth to beat the Suns, who blew a 3-0 lead in the ninth in a 6-3 loss Sunday.

The Suns took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth Monday, before things got wild.

Brandon Wikoff led off with a single against Kevin Light, who was immediately replaced by Peralta (4-3).

After Wikoff took second on a wild pitch, Steve Brown struck out on another wild pitch, allowing Wikoff to advance to third as Brown safely reached first. After Brown stole second, Peralta struck out Reinaldo Pestana before intentionally walking Jay Austin to load the bases.

Albert Cartwright's RBI groundout -- which should have been the third out -- plated Wikoff to tie the game.

After Peralta intentionally walked Brian Pellegrini to load the bases again, he plunked Diaz to bring an end to the game.

Derek Norris and Michael Guerrero each homered for Hagerstown.
