The Smiths



Larry and Doris Smith of Needmore, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the Upper Room of the Hancock United Methodist Church in Hancock.

The couple celebrated on Saturday, June 20, 2009, with their children, grandchildren, family members, several wedding attendants and friends.

The couple also celebrated with their church family on Sunday, June 21, 2009. A buffet luncheon was served followed by an anniversary cake. About 90 guest were in attendance.

The Smiths were married in a candlelight service in the Hancock United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 21, 1959, by the Rev. Lorne Burton.

Mr. Smith worked for McCray Building and Supply Co., Warfordsburg, Pa. He worked for General Motors in Martinsburg, W.Va., where he retired in September 1998 after 30 years. Mrs. Smith also worked for McCray Building and Supply Co., and for 20 years with U.S. Silica Company, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. She retired in June 1998.

The couple have two children, Sharon (Smith) Elbin and her husband, Craig; and son, Rocky Smith and his wife Angie, all of Needmore, Pa. They have three granddaughters and one grandson.

The Smiths



Barbara and Nevin Smith of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party at Funkstown Park with friends and family members, hosted by their children and family.

The Smiths have two children, a son, Jeffrey and wife Jennifer and a daughter, Teresa and husband Danny and five grandchildren.

They were married June 27, 1959, at St. John's Lutheran Church by the Rev. George Whetstone.

Barbara Smith is the former Barbara Esterly and is a retired hairdresser. Mr. Smith is employed by Excel Contractors Inc.

The Kriners



Wayne and Mary Ann Kriner of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2009, at a reception with 121 family members and friends, hosted by their children and grandchildren. The reception was held at the Elks Club in Hagerstown.

The Kriners were married in Clear Spring at St. Paul's United Church of Christ by the Rev. J. Wade Huffman on June 28, 1959.

Mr. Kriner retired from USA Cartage Trucking in 2007, and Mrs. Kriner retired from the Washington County Board of Education in 1999.

Their children are Ed; Rusty and wife Kristine; Rog and wife Paula; and Matt and wife Rebecca. They have seven grandchildren.
