Hagerstown Community College graduate Holly Bonenberger was awarded a $15,000 Community College Merit Scholarship July 8 from University of Maryland University College.
Bonenberger, who recently earned her associate of science degree in administration of justice at HCC, will pursue a bachelor's degree in criminal justice at UMUC starting in the fall.
The scholarship will cover tuition and fees for two years, officials said.
She was selected by a committee to receive the scholarship, based on merit, need and a compelling essay.
Bonenberger serves as an administrative assistant at the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown, moving toward her goal of pursuing a career in parole and probation.
