Rape charges dropped against Va. man

July 27, 2009

HAGERSTOWN -- Charges were dropped Monday against a man who had been charged with second-degree rape of a teenage co-worker last summer when both worked at the city-owned Claude M. Potterfield Pool on Frederick Street in Hagerstown.

Adam E. Deiseroth, 20, of Winchester, Va., was not at the defense table when Washington County Circuit Judge John H. McDowell dropped the charges during a brief hearing.

Assistant State's Attorney Gina Cirincion did not explain why the charges were dropped.

Deiseroth also had been charged with one count each of second-degree assault, second-degree sex offense and fourth-degree sex offense in connection with an alleged August 2008 incident.
