Heather McEndree

Heather McEndree of Hagerstown, who has a studio at Life House West on Salem Avenue, recently received certification and licensure as a Musikgarten instructor for the Cycle of Seasons curriculum.

Musikgarten, based in Greensboro, N.C., specializes in early childhood music and movement programs for children from birth to age 9. The Musikgarten curriculum is widely recognized as essential in helping young children develop valuable social, emotional, musical and physical skills.

Heather will offer Musikgarten classes for children ages 3 to 5 beginning in September. Free demonstration classes are scheduled in August.

Starr Insurance

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Patricia Shughart, a commercial lines agent and customer service representative for Starr Insurance, recently was named the 2009 Oustanding CSR of the Year recipient for Pennsylvania by the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research.

To qualify for the honor, Shughart submitted the winning essay titled, "Many in the insurance world believe that 'the price of insurance becomes more important to the client in the absence of value.' What are five ways a CSR can add value to the insurance-client relationship?"

Shughart also was selected for having demonstrated outstanding service and professionalism within the insurance community.

Shughart is one of 45 individuals who are eligible for the national honor, which carries a $2,000 cash prize and a scholarship for the recipient's employer to any program offered by the National Alliance.

Shughart has been with Starr Insurance since 1988 and holds CIC and CPIW designations.

Orrstown Financial Advisors

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Dan Baer, a trust officer and financial adviser for Orrstown Financial Advisors, recently was awarded the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation by the American Bankers Association.

The CTFA certification is designed to establish a recognized standard of knowledge and competence for the trust and wealth advisory field; formally recognize those who meet these standards; provide employers and clients with a tool to identify skilled, knowledgeable professionals; and support the benefits of professional continuing education and development.

Baer has more than eight years of experience, and holds both the Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. He specializes in fiduciary accounts, estate planning and estate settlement.

Baer is a 1993 graduate of Penn State University. He also is a 2007 honors graduate of the Central Atlantic School of Trust sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, and recently graduated from the Graduate Trust Program at Emory University, a program sponsored by the American Bankers Association.

Potomac OB/GYN

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Dr. Sohael Raschid has joined the practice of Potomac OB/GYN in the Waynesboro Health Center at 12525 N. Welty Road.

Raschid earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed both his internship and residency at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Raschid joins Dr. Mehran Langroudi, Dr. Jean Lessard and Dr. Lawrence Rogina at Potomac OB/GYN, which is an affiliate of Summit Health.

Morrell has served business clients for more than 20 years, with a focus on health and life insurance.

Roxbury Correctional Institution

Karen Elliott-Leisinger, a correctional case management supervisor, has been selected as Supervisor of the Quarter at Roxbury Correctional Institution.

Leisinger was selected because she is highly productive and accurate in her work and she goes out of her way to resolve issues in the Case Management Department. She oversees many areas of importance, some of which include the inmate release process, cognitive-based inmate groups, inmate transfers and case plans. She also is a member of the Violence Reduction Committee, as well as a trainer for the Training Academy and a trainer for inmate observation aides.

Leisinger has been employed by the State of Maryland since 1981.

Avon Products

Vicki Orye, an Avon Products representative in Hagerstown, recently was recognized along with other top Avon represenatives at the company's President's Recognition Program Celebration.

Orye and the other representatives were rewarded with a trip June 24 to 28 to the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

The President's Recognition Program Celebration is an annual event at which the company brings together the nation's top achieving representatives who have distinguished themselves as top performers in sales or leadership.

Shepherd University

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Marie DeWalt, director of human resources at Shepherd University, recently earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

The SPHR certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute, signifies DeWalt has passed a comprehensive examination demonstrating the body of knowledge in the field of human resource management. The pass rate for the SPHR certification exam during the spring 2009 testing window was 54 percent.

There are 42,133 SHPR-certified individuals in the United States, of which 110 are in West Virginia.

DeWalt holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership from West Virginia University, an M.S. in human resource management from the University of Charleston (W.Va.), an M.Ed. in student personnel services from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. in political science from West Virginia University. DeWalt completed the management development program at Harvard University.
