July 25, 2009

ST. THOMAS, Pa. -- Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Connor has identified the man killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on U.S. 30 as Robert Lee Leaf Sr., 77, of Hampstead, Md.

The death was accidental and was caused by multiple blunt force trauma, Connor said Saturday in a press release.

Leaf was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck west on U.S. 30 near St. Thomas.

About 1:30 p.m., Leaf's truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 1994 Ford flatbed truss truck driven by Roger Stewart, 61, of Waynesboro, Pa., according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release.

The crash happened in the 8100 block of Lincoln Way West, as U.S. 30 is known in that section, troopers said.

Stewart sustained minor injuries, troopers said.

According to a Web site for Carroll County, Md., Robert Leaf Farms is a beef cattle farm in Hampstead.
