Miniature horse show

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -All-State Miniature Horse and Donkey Club Miniature Horse Show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at Silver Star Saddle Club grounds, 1524 McDowell Road. There will be 41 classes on conformation, showmanship, tricks, costumes, jumping and more.

Annual Interfaith Family Picnic

The annual Interfaith family picnic will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16 at City Park, 501 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, in the pavilion next to the concession stand.

Enter on Park Drive for closest parking, and look for balloons. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Burgers, (kosher) hot dogs and drinks will be provided. The food is free, but bring a dish to share, and place settings for your group.

Scarecrow contest

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. will sponsor its fourth annual scarecrow contest.

The scarecrow contest is part of Mainstreet's annual Market Day celebration, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. The event features live music and entertainment, and dozens of craft, specialty and food vendors.

Youth groups, other nonprofits, individuals and area businesses are invited to create a scarecrow for the contest. Groups or businesses from out of town are welcome to participate. Prizes will be awarded in two categories, non-profit and business: first place $150, second $75, and third $50.

Scarecrows can be fashioned to represent a business or a group's identify or just for fun.

Scarecrows must be delivered on Friday, Oct. 2, to be mounted on the lamp posts that evening. They will remain on the posts through Monday, Nov. 2. Judging will be completed and winners announced during the Market Day event.

The contest is limited to the first 50 entries. The registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 25, and the entry fee is $10. For information and registration forms, call Mainstreet's office at 717-762-0397 or go to www.wbopa.com.
