BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The Hagerstown Suns did everything right Friday night, mashing 11 hits and getting superb pitching while taking advantage of four Bowling Green errors on the way to an 8-0 victory over the Hod Rods in a South Atlantic League game.
The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Steve Lombardozzi singled and scored on Derek Norris' 24th double of the season.
Hagerstown made it 2-0 in the third on Norris' 22nd home run of the year. The Suns added another run in the fourth on Charlie Fermaint's single, a fielding error and a wild pitch that allowed Fermaint to score from third.
The runs kept coming in the fifth. Lombardozzi walked with one out and Norris reached on a two-base error before Steven Souza hit a two-out, two-run single for a 5-0 Suns lead.
