Waynesboro Area School District plans improved Web site

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Waynesboro Area School District officials expect to launch an improved version of their Web site,, on Aug. 3.

"It's going to look a lot different," Superintendent James Robertson said. "It's going to be more functional."

One of the highly anticipated features is a complete calendar system, where the user can click to learn about events, Robertson said.

"It will e-mail you at some point to remind you of the event," he said.

It might take time to migrate different portions of the site to the new format, Robertson said. The goal is to be more interactive with the community, he said.

Animal shelter receives $100,000 donation

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A former Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter board member recently donated $100,000 to the shelter's relocation campaign, according to a press release.

The anonymous donor's money will be used to help the shelter move to its new home on 11 acres previously owned by the Chambersburg Area School District and Letterkenny Army Depot, the release stated.

The capital campaign to move has been under way since July 2007, when the board signed an agreement to sell its current location on Country Road to CSX.

"We're going to get there," board President Nancy Gardner said in the release. "We are all really encouraged by the financial and in-kind donations that have been made to date in support of our 'Rallying to Relocate Capital Campaign.'"

Shelter officials plan to move to a new $3.5 million facility by September 2010, according to published reports.
