Anne Elaine Garrett, 63, of 13040 Little Hayden Circle, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009, at her home.

Born Wednesday, March 20, 1946, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Howard Jeffries Garrett and the late Annie Virginia Claggett.

Anne received her BA in 1968 and her MA in 1970 from American University in Washington, D.C., and later her AA in nursing from Montgomery College.

She was employed as a consulting psychologist to the Baltimore Archdiocese until 1971. She later became the professional assistant at B'nai B'rith National Office until 1977. In 1980, she became a RN, working at Suburban Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., as a clinical nurse III until 1986, and later took a position with the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. from 1990 to 1991.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Kensington, Md., Montgomery County Youth Orchestra, Daughters of the American Revolution, Margaret Whetton Chapter, Phi Theta Kappa, University Singers at American University and the St. Paul Singers.

She is survived by her brother, Howard Eugene "Gene" Garrett of Hagerstown, Md.

Services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 10401 Armory Ave., Kensington, Md., with the Rev. Adam B. Snell officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North funeral home, from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, July 24, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday, July 25.

Interment will be in the Parklawn Memorial Garden, Rockville, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen VA, 23058-5216.
